On January 7, 2022, KS Fair Maps sent a formal letter to the Kansas Redistricting Advisory Group and Committees on Redistricting as well as an open advisory, expressing our disappointment with the path our state’s redistricting process is currently taking. We called on committee members to:
- Remove the legislative sponsor requirement
- Eliminate physical and technical barriers to participation
- Create and communicate a transparent timeline
- Commit to the inclusion of community input
On January 8, 2022, KS Fair Maps live-streamed a virtual media event urging the KS Redistricting Advisory Group and Committees on Redistricting to make critical changes and remove barriers to participation so that Kansans – and especially marginalized populations – can more equitably participate in the production of fair maps. With the 2022 Kansas Legislative now underway, we continue to advocate for your full participation in the political process.
Stay tuned for more details and opportunities to take action for fair maps!
